The Law School Council hosted a town hall meeting with head of law school, Prof. Vinodh Jaichand. The topic that dominated discussion was the conversion of the LLB degree, to a postgrad degree.
Prof Jaichand told students “postgrad” was a bad word to describe the change in degree and it should rather be described as a “second public degree.”
He assured current LLB students that their degrees would not be looked down on in the workplace as Wits university is “known for the quality of its graduates.”
Prof Jaichand also revealed plans to introduce practical legal writing skills and training in legal ethics for the future.
